How we help:

Entrepreneurs and Enterprise Development (SEEDA) initiative, Sierra Leone

AFRICAN FOUNDATION FOR DEVELOPMENT

We provided technical assistance to two DFID/UK Aid and VSO-funded initiatives for micro, small and medium enterprises in Sierra Leone. Our brief was twofold: to ensure that the design of business development programmes were mainstreaming gender and youth issues and that Afford Sierra Leone's newly-recruited Board and national staff were able to demonstrate the added value and impact of mainstreaming through their monitoring and evaluation system.

Afford Sierra Leone used their gender and youth-responsive approach to lever further support from UNDP and build new partnerships with the private and civil society sector. Their business development and training work has helped move business women and young people into the formal economic sector, generating much-needed revenue for Sierra Leone's government.
